The auto masking paper comes with a polycoated backing to help prevent the strong solvents used in automotive paints, base coats and clear coats from penetrating to the other side, keeping freshly painted surfaces free from contamination. It also protects against dust contamination from paper fibers. When properly applied, this product saves auto body shops from costly clean up and rework associated with accidental paint overspray exposure.

The paper easily tears when used with apron tapers and maskers, reducing paper waste that can occur with sloppy or ragged tears. When a job calls for masking paper with a higher degree of protection, you don’t want to risk choosing the wrong masking paper and end up with accidental bleed through. That’s why 3M colored this paper gold to make it easy to find.
