Flexible and Tear-Resistant

3M™ Microfinishing PSA Film Disc 268L is a resin-bonded disc that has great flexibility and won’t sacrifice durability and reliable performance. To complement the effective cut of the aluminum oxide mineral, the polyester film backing flexes to help achieve a consistent finish over contours and offers greater tear-resistance than comparable paper products. This makes it ideal for high-production environments.

3M gave these discs precision, micron-graded aluminum oxide, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness and strength, people widely use aluminum oxide in grinding, sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for many materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. This disc is ideal for sanding plastics, paint, e-coat and wood, as these projects often require an abrasive that will maintain the integrity of the underlying workpiece. Its uniform cut and soft scratch pattern help prep the workpiece for fresh paint or other coatings.

Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) for Easy Attachment

3M included pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) in 3M™ Microfinishing PSA Film Disc 268L for easy attachment to abrasive tools. The PSA backing holds the disc securely in place during use. It also removes cleanly from the backup pad (sold separately), leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next sheet or disc. Designed for use with orbital and random orbital sanders, this disc comes in a range of micron grades for complete multi-step sanding and finishing. The polyester backing on 3M™ Microfinishing PSA Film Disc 268L is water resistant. This means that you can run the disc wet if desired. Adding a lubricant like water can help minimize build up and wash away unwanted swarf. The benefits are threefold: preventing clogging, keeping the mineral sharp and helping the abrasive run cool.

3M™ Microfinishing PSA Film Disc 268L is commonly used in the marine, transportation & heavy equipment, paint preparation, AOEM and woodworking industries. Given that it effectively finishes workpieces without sacrificing part geometry, it’s a great disc to have on hand.
