3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive 2158 is a rigid, multi-purpose, two-part high strength adhesive that chemically cures at room temperature. This equal mix ratio (1:1) epoxy has a 2 hour work life, allowing time for adjustments and positioning of substrates and parts. It reaches handling strength in approximately 10 hours and fully cures in 7 days. With a relatively high viscosity this epoxy dispenses easily to ensure a controlled, precise and accurate application that won't migrate. Once cured this adhesive provides a rigid bond with high shear strength to deliver better dead load holding. Understanding Epoxy Adhesives
Epoxy adhesives are part of the class of adhesives called "structural adhesives," which also includes polyurethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate and others. Epoxies are formulated as liquid reactive polymers that undergo a chemical reaction when mixed and then cure to form a solid plastic material.
